..."Torán's encore performance of a wild Argentinian dance by Ginastera -the Pampas meet Prokofiev- made an exhilarating foretaste of the Argentine's "Variaciones Concertantes" a wonderfully crafted set of variations that gave a dozen first-chair players the chance to display their solo mettle. The concluding work, Piazzolla's lush, slinky "Tangazo", had the house erupting in clamorous applause. Ole!.

La propina de Torán, una salvaje danza argentina de Ginastera -La Pampa encuentra a Prokofiev- fue un excitante anticipo de las "Variaciones concertantes argentinas", un maravillosamente bien construído conjunto de variaciones, que dieron la oportunidad de demostrar su valía a una docena de músicos de primera categoría.
